social media acronyms explained

The meaning of social media acronyms

Conflict International director Mike LaCorte has written this useful article in the World Association of Detectives magazine, Beyond Global, on deciphering the dozens of abbreviations in use on social media.

When carrying out a sensitive investigation, these acronyms can be difficult to follow but are widely used by teens, and importantly those who are posing as teens online in order to appear that they are talking to people from the same age group.

Mike, who is First Vice-President of the WAD, has listed the most common acronyms in use on pages 12 and 13 of the magazine which can be downloaded here.
